New dahon matrix 17" Reviews
3 of 3 people found the following review helpful The Ultimate in Urban Performance? Yes!, July 12, 2011 By This review is from: New dahon matrix 17" (Misc.) When I first started researching bikes I decided there were three things that my future bike required: Durability, Portability and Affordability. I live in Brooklyn, NY the most pot-hole infested town in the Nation. My apartment is TINY! There's barely enough room for me to sit in there. And my budget... let's just say every time that $103 monthly metro card popped out of the machine I got physically ill. So, biking would be my main source of commuting around town with two excellent side effects: getting skinny and saving money! A folding bike was my only option due to the size of my apartment and if I needed to travel with my bike I wouldn't have to buy a rack for a car. For a week I tested out the Mu P8 but it felt too much like a toy to me, and I felt every single pot-hole from my house to work and back. (However, I would totally recommend the Mu P8 for parents who want to get their child a first time bike that they can grown into.) So I went back to the store and asked to... Read more
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful BEST bike for the money!, May 2, 2010 By This review is from: New dahon matrix 17" (Misc.) Bought this bike in April 2010, RIDES like a dream!!! Priced right for this segment..has 24 speeds, disc brakes, adjustable and lock out front suspension, and FOLDS!! Very comfortable on long rides....I had tried those cheap bikes from department stores and they are a world apart..those $100 dollar bikes are throw aways for your kids, if you want something that rides well and last buy this bike..Dahon got it right!
4 of 7 people found the following review helpful A Bad Buy, December 2, 2010 By Sidney 215 "heavy-duty user" (Philadelphia PA) - See all my reviews This review is from: New dahon matrix 17" (Misc.) I have ridden the bike about 15 times and been to the shop about 7. The folding mechanism bangs around while riding and unlocks. Dahon does not seem to be real interested in customer service though they finally had someone replace the bad parts. The bike should come with all good parts! And you shouldn't have to pressure the company to fix it if it was received damaged.
The tires are terrible. I've replaced them after 2 flats (15 short rides). One flat was internal on second ride which means the bike was not set up properly.
The reason I purchased the Dahon Matrix at it's elevated price is because its a folding 26 inch bike with a long wheel base. A bad deal! I expect a company to stand up for its products. Note there are no reviews of the Matrix on the Dahon site!
